New ASO Board Members and Officers Elected
July 1, 2021
The ASO Board of Trustees is excited to announce the election of 13 new board members, bringing our total to 19. The new board of trustees includes professional and amateur musicians, educators and businesspersons, recent graduates and grandparents. Each member is either a current or former resident of the area.
In conjunction with the recruitment of new trustees, a search was conducted for a new president and a new vice president. We found outstanding candidates, persons with leadership experience, commitment, and compassion, from within our own orchestra ensemble.
As its first order of business, the new board elected Deborah Martin as president and James Perone as Vice President.
Deborah Martin has the written the following open letter to the community.
During the pandemic year, many Americans learned how to conduct meetings by video conference. Accordingly, the board has decided to consider members who do not reside locally, in order to welcome trustees with the most to offer, regardless of their location. Meetings will be conducted either purely by video conference or in hybrid in-person + video mode.
