Fall Concert, October 5, 3 p.m. A selection of “Character Pieces”, with Elaine Anderson, cello.

The ASO and the University of Mount Union present their own selection of “Character Pieces” at 3 p.m. on October 5 in the Alliance High School auditorium. Each piece on the program is remarkable in its own sense of strong, individual character or mood, from impassioned to meditative, and genial and nostalgic to angst-filled dissonance. The orchestra will open with Catskill Legend by composer Paul Whear; Fratres by Arvo Pärt and Music for Orchestra by Václav Nelhýbel. Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G major, op. 88 will conclude the program.

Tickets to the event will be available at the door. A post-concert reception to meet and greet the performers will be held in the lobby following the program.
